What data we process and why

Technical data about your visit. When you open the website, our server receives your IP address, the address of the requested page, the time of the request and information about your browser and device. We need these data to deliver the website to you and to protect it against attacks and misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Security log. Requests that look like an attack are recorded together with the IP address, the requested address and the browser identification. The security log is kept for 30 days and then deleted.

Essential cookies. The website uses a session cookie and a security token (XSRF-TOKEN). They remember your language choice and protect forms against forgery. They are necessary for the website to work, so they do not require your consent, and they expire when your session ends.

Settings in your browser. Your choice of light or dark theme and your decision about analytics are stored only in your browser (local storage). They are not sent to our server.

The website is run on a server of a web hosting provider, who processes the data on our behalf. Fonts are served from our own server, so your visit is not reported to font providers. We do not sell personal data and we do not use them for automated decision-making or profiling.

Cookies and Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which articles and pages people read. Google Analytics is loaded only after you click "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner. Without your consent, no analytics cookies are set and no data are sent to Google.

With your consent, Google Analytics stores the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID> in your browser and processes a pseudonymous identifier, the pages you visit, information about your device and browser, and your approximate location derived from your IP address. Advertising features are switched off.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, as our processor. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States, which participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Analytics data are kept for 14 months.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. After you withdraw it, Google Analytics is no longer used and its cookies are deleted from your browser. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before.

Security

The website is available only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to the server and to the administration is limited to authorised persons and protected by passwords.

Links to LinkedIn, X, Facebook and YouTube are plain links. These services receive data about you only when you click such a link, and from then on their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have them corrected or erased, to restrict their processing and to data portability. You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interest. You can withdraw your consent to analytics at any time.

If you believe that we process your personal data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov Slovenskej republiky), Hraničná 12, 820 07 Bratislava 27, www.dataprotection.gov.sk.
